A fuzzy system for cloacal temperature prediction of broiler chickens Ciência Rural
Ferreira,Leandro; Yanagi Junior,Tadayuki; Lacerda,Wilian Soares; Rabelo,Giovanni Francisco.
Cloacal temperature (CT) of broiler chickens is an important parameter to classify its comfort status; therefore its prediction can be used as decision support to turn on acclimatization systems. The aim of this research was to develop and validate a system using the fuzzy set theory for CT prediction of broiler chickens. The fuzzy system was developed based on three input variables: air temperature (T), relative humidity (RH) and air velocity (V). The output variable was the CT. The fuzzy inference system was performed via Mamdani's method which consisted in 48 rules. The defuzzification was done using center of gravity method. The fuzzy system was developed using MAPLE® 8. Experimental results, used for validation, showed that the average standard...

Adjust of regression models to estimate the rectal temperature of broilers for the first 14 days of life REA
Ponciano,Patrícia F.; Yanagi Junior,Tadayuki; Lima,Renato R. de; Schiassi,Leonardo; Teixeira,Vitor H..
The broiler rectal temperature (t rectal) is one of the most important physiological responses to classify the animal thermal comfort. Therefore, the aim of this study was to adjust regression models in order to predict the rectal temperature (t rectal) of broiler chickens under different thermal conditions based on age (A) and a meteorological variable (air temperature - t air) or a thermal comfort index (temperature and humidity index -THI or black globe humidity index - BGHI) or a physical quantity enthalpy (H). In addition, through the inversion of these models and the expected t rectal intervals for each age, the comfort limits of t air, THI, BGHI and H for the chicks in the heating phase were determined, aiding in the validation of the equations and...

Oliveira,P.T.L.; Amaro,A.L.N.; Yanagi Júnior,T.; Ferraz,G.A.S.; Yanagi,S.N.M..
ABSTRACT The objective of the present study was to establish the bioclimatic zoning by the temperature and humidity index (THI), considering a historical period and a future scenario, in order to represent the thermal environment for broiler breeding in the State of Minas Gerais. A historical series (1976 - 2014) of THI minimum, average and maximum calculated based on data from 48 conventional meteorological stations was used, belonging to the National Institute of Meteorology of the State of Minas Gerais. The analysis of the temporal series was based on the Mann-Kendall test and linear regression. A geostatistical analysis was also carried out to determine the comfort zoning of broilers as a function of the THI intervals. In this way, the THI spatial...

Environment in poultry production covered with thermal and aluminum roofing tiles REA
OLIVEIRA,FERNANDO G. DE; GODOI,WANESSA M.; PASSINI,ROBERTA.
Brazil is a country of tropical climate, a fact that hinders the poultry production in the aspect of thermal comfort. Thus, we aimed to evaluate the thermal environment in commercial poultry houses with different covers during the months of December 2012 to May 2013, in the municipality of Rio Verde, Goiás. The experimental design was completely randomized in split plots with factorial arrangement of treatments 2x3, being two shed models (thermal and aluminum roof tiles) and three sections within each shed (initial, central and final) for 182 days, having the days as replicates. The thermal environment was assessed through thermal comfort indices: Temperature and Humidity Index, Black Globe Temperature and Humidity Index, Radiant Heat Load and Enthalpy....

FUZZY MODEL FOR PREDICTING CLOACAL TEMPERATURE OF BROILER CHICKENS UNDER THERMAL STRESS REA
Abreu,Lucas H. P.; Yanagi Junior,Tadayuki; Campos,Alessandro T.; Lourençoni,Dian; Bahuti,Marcelo.
ABSTRACT Broiler chickens submitted to different intensities and durations of thermal stress are subject to variation in cloacal temperature and, consequently, to a decrease in performance. Given the complexity of these interactions, artificial intelligence is a useful methodology for decision-making. Thus, this study aimed to assess and predict, by means of a fuzzy model, the cloacal temperature of broiler chickens submitted to thermal stress in the second week of life, with varying durations and intensities, in climatized wind tunnels. Mamdani's inference and defuzzification methods by means of the center of gravity were used. One hundred and twenty rules were elaborated. The developed fuzzy model was used to predict the cloacal temperature of broiler...

Nocturnal thermal comfort in facilities for growing swines REA
Sarubbi,Juliana; Rossi,Luiz A.; Moura,Daniella J. de; Oliveira,Rafael A. de; Maia,Ana Paula de A.
In most of Brazilian pig farms, the environmental acclimatization systems run manually. For night and early morning periods, this practice isn't appropriate, because, in general, there are not employees available to run these manual systems. This research aimed to compare the bioclimatic profile of two differently constructed facilities to the external environment, considering the period from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. during the spring, in order to show that night and early morning temperatures do not coincides with growing pig's thermoneutral zone. For this reason, acclimatization must be also carried out at these periods. It was analyzed the dry bulb temperature, relative air humidity, temperature-humidity index (THI) and enthalpy data of the sheds and external...

Noise analysis to evaluate chick thermal comfort Scientia Agricola
Moura,Daniella Jorge de; Nääs,Irenilza de Alencar; Alves,Elaine Cangussu de Souza; Carvalho,Thayla Morandi Ridolfi de; Vale,Marcos Martinez do; Lima,Karla Andrea Oliveira de.
The relationship between thermal environment and chick performance has widely been evaluated, however the consideration that the assessment of the comfort may be estimated by interpreting both amplitude and frequency of bird vocalization under tropical housing conditions is a new concept. This research had as objective of estimating thermal comfort for chicks during the heating phase using this new concept. An experiment was carried out inside a climate controlled chamber (A) for establishing the behavioral pattern related to environmental temperature limits. Forty five chicks were reared inside a 2.3 m² box. A video camera was placed 2.0 m above the birds and the images were captured and registered in a computer. From the pattern determined in the...

Perfomance of an evaporative cooling system of a finishing phase swine barn Scientia Agricola
Sartor,Valmir; Baêta,Fernando da Costa; Tinôco,Ilda de Fátima Ferreira; Luz,Maira Luciana.
The thermal environment inside of a finishing phase swine barn has great influence on the success of swine production. This environment can be characterized by the black globe temperature and humidity index (BGHI), that represents the air temperature, humidity, wind speed and radiation. Due to the small number of Brazilian reports on this specific subject, this experiment was performed to verify the effect of one kind of evaporative cooling system on the thermal comfort of the animal in a swine barn, during the 98/99 summer at Patos de Minas, MG, Brazil. Two constructions were used, divided in 36 barns, each one with 15 animals, 110 to 150 days old. Along a side of one barn, four cooling devices were installed, with a ventilation system connected to a...
